Surgery Doctors often prescribe surgery for primary brain tumors whereby a surgeon removes all or part of the tumor without causing severe damage to surrounding tissues and brain cells. Apart from chemotherapy and surgery, radiation therapy (radiation kills the tumor cells) and clinical trials (a clinical trial is a research study that tests a new drug; a new combination of standard treatments; or new doses of standard drugs or other treatments) are also utilized to effectively treat the brain tumors.
