Ankle fusion Surgery Treatment
The ankle fusion surgery is usually performed on patients dealing with arthritis or ankle fracture (cartilage in the joint is damaged) or immobilizing ankle pain with swelling or inflammation. An ankle fusion surgery for end-stage arthritis of the joint involves cleaning the worn-out ankle joint and fusing or combining the bones of the ankle using plates and screws (internal fixation) or bone grafts (transplanted bone material used for fusion) to obtain the bony union between the tibia and talus with adequate alignment.
